China's 1st base of 10mln kilowatts of the wind power into the construction phase

Chinese National Development and Reform Commission recently approves that the project of Gansu Jiuquan wind power base of 3.8 million kilowatts wind power station.

This means the first base of 10 million kilowatts of wind power which China plans to build into the construction phase.

From the Gansu National Development and Reform Commission, the project of Jiuquan wind power base of 3.8 million kilowatts wind power station includes eighteen wind power station of 0.2 million kilowatts and two of 0.1 million kilowatts, they are built by the Datang Power Co.Ltd of Gansu and other 20 investment enterprises.

At present, the protection of cultivated land of the wind power station, the appraise of environment effects and the wind power equipment tendering are already.  It will not be built until National Development and Reform Commission approves it.

It is rich in wind energy in Gansu. It has 237 million kilowatts  wind energy, constituting 7.3 percent of the nation's total.

By the end of 2007, the installed capacity of wind power plants in Gansu had already reached 510,000 kilowatts. Jiuquan's annual wind power output is at 600 million kilowatt hours, and is one of China's five largest wind power farms.
