Nucci will lead a new production of "Rigoletto" on June 18 at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA). The title role will be played by Vladimir Stoyanov on June 19 and 21 and George Gagnidze on June 20.
The show is co-produced by the NCPA and Teatro Regio di Parma, a prestigious Italian opera house.
"Rigoletto" is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most influential composers of Italian opera in the 19th century.
Leo Nucci, who began playing the role of Rigoletto in 1973, told Beijing media on Monday that the upcoming performance will be his 430th rendition of the character, not counting open rehearsals and charity shows. But the 67-year-old singer says he is not getting enough, because every performance is an opportunity to discover new elements of the character.
