Veteran singer-songwriter Xu Wei kicked off his sold-out "The Day" concert on Friday in Beijing Workers Stadium, four years after his 2005 "Forever Youth" solo concert in the same venue.

Along with top guitarists and drummers both from home and aboad, Xu Wei staged a high-level live concert for his Beijing fans. Popular singer Pu Shu, also Xu's friend, joined him as the guest during the three-hour gig.

Xu Wei is one of the most lauded musicians in China's pop music industry, he rose to the front line of the music scene in 1997 with his rock-driven debut album "Elsewhere".

The singer will stage the second gig of his tour in Shanghai on May 9th.
