When it comes to losing weight, some people care too much about love and appearances and not enough about their health. At least that seemed to be the case for one young woman in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan province, who overdid her diet and ended up fainting in the street on July 6, Dahe Daily reported.

Liu Lei, 29, had eaten nothing but fruits and vegetables for two months after her boyfriend complained about her weight, even though she only weighed 56 kilograms to begin with.

Hoping to keep on dating her boyfriend, who she'd been seeing since April, Liu Lei decided to lose weight for love and went on a diet so strict it made her feeble.

Obviously she did toss off some weight, but the cost of her slender figure was high: she became so malnourished and weak that she fainted from anemia while crossing the street.

"It is not wise to lose weight blindly," said Zhang Junfeng, a doctor in Zhengzhou No.1 Hospital, because people may suffer serious consequences like severe anemia or osteoporosis. He suggested making a suitable diet plan that is based on scientific health data.
