The panda, whose name is Xiao Ming, received a free cataract surgery last December in the hospital.

Head of Xi'an Ancient City Eye Hospital Meng Yong'an said the donation will mainly be used to support Xiao Ming's future life and medical care. The hospital has vowed to take care of the panda they have adopted for the rest of his life.

Xiao Ming, who is now over 20 years old, was discovered in 2007 in the wild of Shaanxi province. He lost the ability to gather and eat bamboo due to the serious cataract in his right eye and turbidity on his left cornea.

The report also said Xiao Ming is expected to become a "father" this autumn.
